Care checks for Austin and Texas

Check the person. Then check the product.

Looking into peptide care in Austin? These Texas board tools and source notes can help with the next step.

The people and the pharmacy

Check the licence in Texas.

For an Austin clinic visit or an online visit from Texas, ask who will decide on your treatment. Get that person’s full name and job title, and the pharmacy’s name.

  • Doctor or another health professional.

As of September 2026, a physician assistant provides medical care in Texas with a doctor overseeing their work. The Texas Medical Board search has licence records for doctors and physician assistants, including any public orders about their work. These can include limits on their work or steps they must take to correct a problem. Check the licence status and read any order; ask the board if its meaning is unclear.

  • A nurse with extra training.

Nurse practitioners are nurses who have extra training in checking health problems and treating patients. For a nurse practitioner, use the Texas Board of Nursing licence search. As of September 2026, Texas allows these nurses and physician assistants to write prescriptions only through a signed agreement with a doctor. Ask who will decide on your medicine and how to reach that person.

  • Pharmacy.

The Texas State Board of Pharmacy search includes out-of-state pharmacies licensed for Texas. As of September 2026, pharmacies located beyond Texas generally need a Texas licence to ship prescriptions into the state.

A doctor’s record without a published penalty does not prove that their care is good. Use it as a starting check, then ask about the care itself.

The product claims

Pause at these claims.

  • Medicine offered without a prescription.

A valid prescription is needed, as of September 2026, under federal law for supplying prescription medicine.

  • A made-to-order medicine described as approved.

As of September 2026, describing a made-to-order medicine as FDA-approved is not allowed, says the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

  • A research label offered as home treatment.

As of September 2026, FDA warns that research-labelled weight-loss products offered for human use may be harmful. Ask for an explanation before paying.

After the visit

Keep a route back to care.

As of September 2026, Texas requires the person treating you to explain what later care you need after a first online visit. Get the name and contact details of the person who will handle your questions once the visit is over.

If something needs a complaint.

Concerns about a Texas doctor or physician assistant can go to the Texas Medical Board. Concerns about a nurse can go to the Texas Board of Nursing. The pharmacy board takes written complaints about Texas-licensed pharmacies and pharmacists, but does not handle billing disputes.

If there is a serious reaction.

Breathing can become difficult during a severe allergic reaction; the face or tongue may also swell. For an allergic reaction with severe symptoms, phone 911 or head directly to the emergency room closest to you.
