Questions for care in Austin

# Before a visit, get the questions on paper.

For an Austin visit or an online visit from Texas, use this list to ask about the care and the full bill.

The visit

## Take a short list to the visit.

Name the problem in your own words.

Write down the changes you hope for and the points you want explained. A treatment name can wait until the conversation.

Bring a short health list.

List medicines and supplements, past treatments, and questions you want answered. Add health records you want the person deciding on your treatment to see.

Ask what happens during the visit.

Who will review my health history? Will I speak with the person deciding on my treatment? Will I need an exam or tests, and what do they cost?

As of September 2026, the medical care Texas requires for an online visit must match the care required in person. Before the online visit, the person treating you must get your agreement after explaining the care; this is called informed consent.

The cost

## Look past the first advertised price.

A September 2026 price check found that drug makers’ cash prices for several weight-loss medicines were mostly about $149 to $499 per month. The price can depend on how much medicine is in each injection or tablet. In that check, some discounts stopped when a refill arrived over 45 days after the previous delivery. A later refill could mean paying the higher, regular price. Ask which refill deadline applies to the price you are quoted.

That range covers medicine, rather than the full cost of care. In September 2026, a review of online weight-care services found that the medicine charge was separate from the membership fee.

### Check the insurance answer.

Prior authorization means your insurer has to agree to pay in advance. Have your insurance plan check both the named medicine and your reason for seeking treatment. Ask what paperwork it needs, too.

Your question sheet

## Ask for a complete price.

For care in Austin or online from Texas, ask for a written quote. Keep the answers beside the questions below.

What still needs a clear answer?

- First visit and follow-up visits

- The medicine itself

- Any tests or lab work

- Membership, shipping, and supplies

- Insurance, commitments, and refunds

Keep a topic checked to include its questions. Your choices stay on this page.

### Your question list

#### Visits

What does the first visit cost?

What will later visits cost?

Is there a charge if I am not given a prescription?

#### Medicine

Is the medicine included in the quote?

What exact product does the quote cover?

What does it cost after the introductory offer ends?

#### Tests

Which tests are being proposed, and why?

What will I pay for each test?

Can existing results be used?

#### Ongoing fees

Is there a membership fee as well as the medicine charge?

Are shipping and supplies included?

Which charges repeat even if I pause treatment?

#### Coverage and cancellation

Does my plan cover the named medicine for the reason I need treatment?

Is prior authorization needed?

What is the cancellation policy, and is any payment refundable?

Before choosing care

## Put names to the licence checks.

Use the Texas board tools to look up the person treating you and the pharmacy.
